Then and Now
The House is a variation on the name Bethel Pentecostal Church. The word “Bethel” means “house of God” hence the name “The House”. Since we are located in Montreal we tagged on the name of our city which gives us, “The House Montreal”.
We look to change our church name permanently to ‘The House’ because although Bethel has almost one hundred years of history, we don’t look to the past trying to preserve what was. We look instead to what we can be in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A number of prophecies have been proclaimed over this church over the years. They have yet to be fulfilled. In the meantime, a wholesale change of people has taken place. A handful of those who remember the old Bethel days do remain. Covid came and went and pruned the numbers even further. Now we find ourselves in a state of rebuilding. HOW we rebuild and WHAT we rebuild upon is of upmost importance. We are committed to TRUTH. BIBLICAL TRUTH. The Word of God takes precedence over everything. Based on the solid teaching of the Scriptures, we look to authentic manifestations of the Holy Spirit because we are convinced in order to see a true move of God, the preaching has to be true to God.
We are not wanting to be an in-house club turned inward, we are seeking Jesus to turn us outward towards the needs of those around us. This will not be an easy transition because we understand that today’s Christian message is self centred, me-focused, and concentrated on worldly success - living a comfortable, lavish lifestyle - contrary to the call of true disciples who have been commissioned to carry their cross and die to themselves. What a joy to experience when everyone of us answers that call.
Furthermore, we are driven by the knowledge that every soul matters to the Lord. It was our driving force when we first became Bethel Pentecostal Church decades ago, and it is still our driving force today as The House Montreal—advancing the cause of Christ, demonstrating His love and care, so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to know Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
We know this is not what everybody is seeking, but if this inspires you, come build with us. We need people like you!
